Welcome to the mid-week special on 2014 nursery trends for your baby boy! This is a follow-up to Pretty in Pink: 2014 Nursery Trends for Your Baby Girl. My title was inspired by the recent gender reveal of my soon-to-be niece. I was wrong and 100% on team blue (boy), and, as much as I like being right, I’m just glad that my little niece is on her way!

Bold & Bright, Clean & White

Learn to Roll
Don’t go spending a fortune on furniture that will only last a few months. Many companies are producing furniture that will last from his first day home to his first day of college so that your son will have furniture that grows with him.

Decorate for a Little Man
Grown up textures and themes are very trendy for little boys’ rooms this year. Sure, girls’ rooms have tufting and posh cribs, but the boys get fun faux taxidermy, leathers, furs, and great wood textures.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
From cloth diapers to carpets, eco-friendly is the way to go. Babies go through so much of everything, so it’s great that the trends point to recycled products like this great carpet from The Land of Nod:
Spell It Out
Over-sized letters are HUGE right now. Spell out his whole name or place his initials on shelves, even use as a door stop! Check out this great recycled metal letter from Blue Orange Pottery!
