Well hello there!
After an inspiring summer, full of great interviews and new friends, I hope that you’re getting excited for the fall and all the great projects in store for you. I’d love to give you a little update on what I’ve been up to and what you’ll be seeing from me in the next few months as we kick things off this fall. Keep reading and you might just find a sweet little treat for yourself!
What I’ve Been Up To
I’m sure you’ve been wondering what I’ve been up to behind the scenes. I tried to slow down this summer, but inevitably, I just found more things to do! I started off well and worked on some massive curtains for my In-Laws, which was a fun break from quilting, but then I was ready to get back to it.
(Pictures coming soon!)
I’m pretty excited for the winter, I’ll be working on a HUGE wall hanging quilt that compliments these curtains and uses unexpected fabrics and trims.
New Ideas
In other news, I’ve been working on a new business idea. Don’t worry—you’ll still have new designs, blog posts, and patterns from me, but I’m working on creating a sister company to Rachel Rossi Design that I am pretty excited about. This business is very industry specific and caters to designers and Quilt Shop owners. If you fall in either of those categories, be sure to get in touch with me to find out how you can be involved in these early stages.
As if a new business venture wasn’t enough, I’ve also been working on laying the ground work for a fabric collection! I’m giving you an ever so teeny sample of what one of my collections might look like, but who will be printing my fabrics is still in the works.
New Designs
This fall has been the fall of pattern testing! It seems like inspiration hit me all summer long and I just had to get the patterns ready for your winter sewing. Here’s some images of my upcoming pattern, Bloctopus. I’m still awaiting final yardage to create the pattern cover, but here’s my top prototype:
You can expect to see Bloctopus releasing in October or November. We are in the final stages of cleaning the pattern up and re-testing.
Another quilt that is currently in testing is called Hypersonic. Dear Stella will be debuting one of their new fabric lines with this pattern, but that’s about all I can say about it for now! You can look for that one in November.
Have you ever been working on a quilt top and looked down thinking Gee, this would be a pretty skirt!? Well, I have! Much of my summer has been working through the logistics of making a pieced maxi skirt.
I’m looking for testers for this pattern right now, so if you’re interested in trying out this pattern, please apply before September 10! I’m hoping to release this pattern right around Quilt Market at the begining of November.
New Shows
This fall is a big one for me. As I’m working to expand my wholesale accounts, I’ll be attending Quilt Market in Houston Texas. And don’t worry, I’ve even scheduled in a day for me to visit Joanna Gaines in Waco…OK, so she probably won’t be there, but a girl can hope!
Since I’ll be all set up at Quilt Market, I figured I might as well settle in and stay for Festival as well. So, if you’re one of my Texas readers, be sure to come to Festival and say hi!
I’ve also been busy scheduling new shows and trunk shows for 2019! You’ll be seeing more on that in a few weeks, but I am planning at being busy with QuiltCon and the Mancuso Hamptons show in February.
There you have it! If you were wondering, or if you weren’t that’s what has been new for Rachel Rossi this summer! As the school year starts, I’m finding myself inspired and excited about the new possibilities for this fall. If you need a little jumpstart on a fall project, make sure to grab this coupon code and get started after the kids are off to school!
I LOVE your fabric swatch and I also think Bloctopus is awesome! Good luck in getting your fabric line going.
Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much Fran!
