Join me for a relaxed, hands-on workshop all about big stitch binding—my favorite way to finish a quilt with personality, texture, and a little bit of joy stitched right in.

We’ll start with a brief introduction to me and my work, then dive right into the good stuff:
- What is big stitch binding?
I’ll walk through the basics with lots of real-life samples so you can see how different threads, stitch sizes, and approaches change the look and feel of a finished quilt. - Tools & materials
We’ll cover exactly what you need (and what you don’t), including needles, thread, thimbles, and my favorite little extras that make stitching more enjoyable. - Live demos
I’ll demonstrate binding techniques and a variety of stitches, sharing tips, shortcuts, and troubleshooting along the way. - Sit & Sew stitching time
This workshop is designed as a cozy, social, sit-and-sew experience. Everyone will work on binding their own project while we stitch together as a group. I’ll come prepared with light activities, conversation starters, and a curated playlist to keep things fun and relaxed while needles are flying.

What to bring:
Each attendee should bring a quilt or project that’s ready for binding. Binding should have the first side attached.
What’s included:
I’ll provide a Big Stitch Binding Kit for each participant, which includes:
- The Little Book of Big Stitch Binding
- Beeswax
- Milliner needles
- Thimtec thimble tape
Each attendee will also get to choose one ball of Valdani Perle Cotton thread to use on their project. (Additional thread will be available for purchase.)
Workshop details:
- Length: Flexible — anywhere from 1 to 4 hours
- Kit cost: $30 per attendee, paid for by the event coordinator
This workshop is perfect for quilters of all levels who want to slow down, enjoy the process, and leave with a beautifully bound project—and the confidence to use big stitch binding again and again.
