Twas a few weeks before Christmas and I didn’t know what to do! My friend was a tea drinker, but this I already knew:
She’s got teacups and teabags, stirrers galore—I’ve already bought her the entire tea-drinking-store!
Well, let me tell you:
Tea to go is the stocking stuffer you’ve been looking for.
The Last Minute Gift Blog Hop
Today I want to bring back an oldie but goodie—my Tea to Go pattern! I’m lucky enough to have it featured on today’s Benartex Blog Hop: The Last Minute Gift Hop and I was excited that they wanted to share this little cutie.
I’m pretty excited about this blog hop—last minute is right up my lane! Make sure to check out all the great projects throughout the 12 days (see all the links at the bottom of this post)!
Benartex was nice enough to send me some fabrics from the Choose to Shine collection…so precious!
I actually was going to only make one Tea Bag caddy, but I just couldn’t resist—they are so easy to make in a batch, what’s three more!?
I just love these little darlings for a stocking stuffer or a gift-topper! Fill it up with your recipients favorite teas, coffees, or sugars and you’re set!
I love this pattern for a few reasons:
- It was the only pattern I created with my Mom, so that has a special place in my heart
- There are SO many ways to use this thing! Stuff it with teabags if you wish, but make another for coffee, first aid supplies, sewing kits, even personal items that like to jump out of your purse!
- Who doesn’t love a ten minute project? I always say this takes 20 minutes the first time and then it’s a BREEZE!
…Did I mention that this is the ULTIMATE project to use up those FAVORITE BUTTONS on?! Yeah…just imagine opening your purse to see your favorite button shimmering in there—every time!
What is Tea To Go?
If you haven’t seen the Tea to Go pattern yet, you’re probably wondering what in the world I’m talking about. Let me show you:
This great little tea bag caddy folds up small enough to fit in your pocket…
but opens up to reveal 6 of your favorite tea bags, portable coffees, or sugars!
Tips and Tricks
Wondering how to get that perfect edgestitch? I’m going to tell you how!
Edgestitching can be intimidating, but it’s really not that bad when you have the right tools! I created this on my BERNINA 570, but you don’t need a big fancy machine. You can easily get this perfection with any BERNINA model and a BERNINA Walking Foot or Edgestitch Foot (affiliate links).
There’s one big project-specific tip here:
- Turn your project liner side down (or exterior up) when doing the topstitching…it makes ALL the difference!
And using these feet are a breeze! Simply push the edge of your fabric against the blade running down the middle of your foot. Then scoot your needle over a few spaces to the left. Start straight stitching and believe your eyes when you see a fantastic, consistent edge stitch!
