Today I want to share one of my favorite quilt patterns by Thimble Blossoms
with you! It’s appropriately named Swoon and I knew I had to make this the second I saw the pattern at my mom’s quilt store. I’m not the only one who loves it: they have had to reorder patterns multiple times since they displayed my quilt in the shop. It’s a crowd-pleaser with its large blocks and beautiful stars!

I chose to go with batik fabrics—I’ve been looking for an excuse to use these gorgeous blending, swirling, magical fabrics, and this quilt is perfect for it! Swoon also lends itself well to reproductions and really bright, vibrant prints. A plain background is a must to display these gorgeous stars, but I’d love to see it in a black, grey, or taupe.
The pattern itself was incredible—clear and concise. I really appreciate a well written pattern, and I thought that this was one of the easiest patterns I’ve used in a while. This was a huge relief to me, since I’m slightly afraid to do stars because of the points (even though they turn out beautifully every time).
I actually loved this pattern so much, I chose to make a premie quilt out of it for my sweet nephew. We knew that he was going to be born prematurely, but I think these are great to have on-hand just in case. I simply used one block, had it quilted, and then bound it. It’s a quick easy project and can actually help mom and baby! After washing the quilt, mom can sleep with it for a few nights and then put it in with baby, which allows him to smell her and feel comforted even when mom’s not at the hospital. It’s not the same as holding that sweet baby, but it’s something!
Swoon is a brilliantly simple design and has instructions that are easy to follow. It would be gorgeous for a Christmas or winter quilt, but can be for all seasons if you pick the versatile fabrics. I’d definitely suggest that you give it a try!
