Wow, another year into this great adventure—thanks for joining in with me! We’ve seen a ton of pattern releases, tutorials, DIYs, personal posts, baby announcements, bumpdates, and everything in-between. If you’re new to the blog, here’s where you’ll want to catch up on the year! If you’re a long time reader, it’s always good to look back and see what you might have missed! As we celebrate the coming new year, I thought it’d be fun to take a look back at the best posts of 2016:
The Most Popular Post
My most popular post this year was on how to get better pictures of your quilting and sewing projects. Craft Gossip even talked about it on their blog in November!
Best DIY
Having been pregnant for what feels like a year, I haven’t been able to do as many or as intense of DIY projects. But sometimes less is more. Remember the DIY headboard tutorial? This headboard was made entirely from wood flooring scraps! I still love this piece every time I walk by it in our home.
Best Pattern Release
We’ve got a tie for best pattern release: I certainly know which patterns were gobbled up by you and other readers, but I’ve still got my favorites!
If we’re playing the popularity game, then the Bandit Bib was certainly my most-sold pattern this year. And there’s lots of good reasons for that: a fantastic price, an absolutely adorable finished product, and a really simple pattern that you’re going to love!
BUT, if we are playing favorites, then I’d have to say that Crossroads is the best pattern release of the year. There’s just something really simple and sweet about this quilt that I really love!
Best Tutorial
I pride myself on giving you the most useful and best tutorials…there’s so many to choose from! If I had to choose, I’d say that my favorite was my Map Wall Art tutorial. Maybe it has something to do with being in baby mode at the moment, but this was my favorite end result.
Best Free Pattern
Everyone loves free. And babies. So, it’s no surprise that the favorite free pattern this year was the Knotted Baby Gown pattern! There’s even a tutorial for a matching headband that is sure to put the cute level over the top!
Most Searched For
British Tea Party—who would have thought that this would be my most searched for post? I mean, it was a fabulous tea party, but it made me giggle a little bit when I saw that this was my most searched-for post.
Most useful
If nothing else, I want my blog to help you. So, the most useful post of the year is imporant to me! I think that this year’s most useful post was on how to bind a quilt. This post was actually inspired in one of my pattern testing groups. Some of the feedback that I got was mixed because there weren’t instructions on how to bind the quilt once the top was quilted. Since this isn’t typically in quilting patterns, I decided to take matters into my own hands and show you how! Now there’s a link in every pattern so that no one is left flying bind blind.
Most Personal
A Home Overflowing was my most personal, and one of the most-shared posts on Facebook this year. I love this post because it really explains why I do what I do, and who inspires me to do it.
Best Pattern Review
As a designer, it’s always in your (and my) best interest to keep up with popular patterns and be learning new techniques. I often try to fit in some pattern reviews from time to time, just to make sure that I’m always learning. My favorite pattern from another designer this year: the Diva Frame Wallet by Sew Many Creations!
Most exciting
There were so many exciting things happening this year, but one in particular overshadowed them all: Our baby announcement! Looking back, I can’t even believe that she’ll be here in just a few short days!
It’s been quite a ride in 2016. I’m so glad you’ve been along. If you’re just finding me, make sure to check out all these great posts and see where else they lead you! Here’s to a great year gone by and another year on our doorstep—one full of new beginnings, inspiration, and goodness.
