Have you been wondering where my goofy stories are or my sentimental holiday Instagram posts have gotten to?
No, my phone hasn’t been buried in piles of fabric (even though that’s usually why I can’t find my phone).
I’ve been hacked.

Tis the season for looking back over the year and taking a good hard look at what I’ve done. I think it’s fun to take a look at all the statistics for the year and see what posts have been the most popular for 2018. I’m always surprised to see old posts resurface and I’m excited to see that my blog is a helpful tool for crafters, sewists, and quilters! (Continue reading…)
I’ve never exhibited at Quilt Market…
…or Quilt Festival.
So why not do both in 2018?! (Continue reading…)

Curves, curves, curves.
There’s a list of things that I’ve wanted to learn for a long time, put them off, and when I finally did learn, kicked myself for lacking the confidence to try in the first place! If I’ve learned anything, it’s this: sewing and quilting isn’t hard…it just takes patience and a tiny bit of practice. (Continue reading…)

Well, hello there! I bet you’re looking at the title of this post and wondering why I’m calling myself a new quilt blogger. Hallelujah! It’s my first UFO finish for the year! I can’t believe I’m saying this, but these Hanky Pillows have been about 5-6 years in the making…and it’s not because they take a long time!
As many of you might know, I lost my mom last year. After her death, my sister and I inherited a lot of her UFO projects. It was something that I tried to mentally prepare for, but the idea that these meaningful works of art would be left unfinished really bothered me. And after finishing this project, I really do feel that there is something therapeutic about being able to finish this one thing. There’s so much about death that feels like unfinished business, so to finish the one small thing that I can feels pretty good. It’s also a great reminder that my mom’s legacy will live on through us, and we can continue not just to sew, but to show love and compassion for people through our sewing. (Continue reading…)
“I was a bad quilter an pressed my seams open,” wrote one of my pattern testers.
If that makes you a bad quilter, then I am the worst of all sinners…because whenever I can, I’ll tell you to press your seams open! I know that it’s not commonly accepted among quilters, but I think the benefits outweigh the negatives that might come to mind. Here’s why I (almost) always press my seams open:
“I really need to kick this habit of sewing over my needles…
…when I finish this project.”
*SNAP, ZING, TING*
“Great, now I need a new needle!
…and my machine is clicking.
…and I’ll be on my hands and knees looking for metal shards for the next hour”
Been there? Done that? Me too. And for some reason, I always return to my bad habit, ruin my machine, and then swear it off again. (Continue reading…)
Greenery: wandering trough the woods, breathing in the fresh scent after a rainstorm, sounds of lingering raindrops gently falling from leaf to leaf and finally to the forest floor, the squish of moss under your feet — the color that surrounds you while you adventure in the great outdoors. (Continue reading…)
