Bloctopus | A New Pattern Release

Today I am so excited to share my latest pattern release with you! There’s no better description of my blog recently than “the calm before the storm.” Things have been pretty quiet around the here on the front end of things lately, which is not normal for me. How to Make a Postcard Quilt

You may have noticed some fun patterns around here lately like Snail Mail and my upcoming pattern: Polaroid Post.

There’s something sweet and old-fashioned about getting a card in the mail these days, the joy that you experience when someone took the time to sit and hand write you a thoughtful note is undeniable!

Now, when someone takes the time to sit down and sew me their thoughts—that means the world! Quilted postcards are a great way to get a quick little project in and show someone you care. The best part? You can create them using fabrics from your scrap pile and odds are that this card won’t get thrown away or stashed in a box…these are center-of-the-refrigerator material!

Through the Woods | Pattern Release

It’s finally here!!

I’m so incredibly excited to present to you my newest design: Through the Woods.

This paper pieced quilt pattern has certainly been a labor of love, but every stitch was totally worth it! Before I even get started on all the details, I want to say thank you to all the pattern testers who made one (some made two already) top to make this an amazing pattern. Your feedback and input is priceless and helps make a great pattern for other quilters.

Oven Octo | Free Pattern!

“So…somehow I’m the activities director for the guild,” I sheepishly explained to my husband after my very first guild board meeting – I had just agreed to shadow at the Modern Quilt Guild for a position in 2019. So, I’m really not sure how it happened, but I was indeed appointed to be the activities director for 2018. I was actually pretty excited about the whole miscommunication, the only problem: I’d have to participate in the activities! And if you know anything about me, you’ll know that I’m a little busy. So, I justified my appointment and reassured myself that it would all work out, I’ll just make each project and blog about it! Double points for having fun, using scraps, and getting work done. So, over the next few months you’ll see some fun smaller projects on the blog that are perfect for small gifts, guild events, and swaps!

Heart Felt Letters For Your Little Valentine

Although my little love bug won’t understand the notion of a valentine from her mama, I still want to do something special for her this year! I’ve created a sweet little toy that she can enjoy for many stages: For now, I’m sure the giant buttons hidden inside will probably be the big hit. Later, as she learns how to put buttons through holes, zip and unzip, it’ll be a great skill-builder. What it Takes to be a Pattern Tester

A lot of blood, sweat, and tears goes into every pattern I release (and maybe a few cookies too…brain food!). I make each design at least once (usually twice), and sometimes 3 times to make sure that everything is perfect when you purchase a hard copy or PDF pattern from my shop. Every time I release a new pattern my release and pattern say “tested for accuracy.” But what does that actually mean? Today, I want to share with you how I ensure that every pattern comes out picture perfect: fabric requirements are accurate, cutting instructions make sense, and everything as clear as possible. I want sewing my patterns to be fun and relaxing—and that means that every part of my pattern matters. None of my patterns would be quite so polished without the help and varying skill levels, techniques, and ideas that come from my pattern testers! (Continue reading…)
