Some quilt designs arrive after months of sketching, revising, and second-guessing.
And then there are the rare ones that seem to walk out of your imagination and onto paper exactly as you pictured them.
Near & Deer was one of those quilts.
Today is the day!

I’m so excited to finally share the patterns and projects created for my newest fabric collection, Winter Haven. This collection has been living in my head (and sketchbooks…and fabric swatches…and piles of quilt blocks 😅) for such a long time, and seeing it all come together feels a little surreal. Inspired by quiet winter woods,
woodland creatures, snowy mushrooms, and cozy evergreen forests, this line was designed to capture the peaceful magic of winter without feeling overly “holiday.”
There’s something about winter that makes the world feel softer and quieter. The crunch of snow under your boots. Bare branches against a dusky sky. Tiny pops of red berries and cardinals in an otherwise sleepy landscape. That’s the feeling I wanted to bring into this collection.

When you’ve spent weeks (or months!) creating a beautiful quilt top, those borders really matter! Today I’m going to walk you through creating mitered borders – a technique that takes your quilt from homemade to professionally finished in just a few extra steps.
Mitered borders are especially perfect for striped fabrics or prints with directional patterns that you want to flow continuously around the corners. Trust me, once you try this technique, you’ll never want to go back to basic borders!
